Deluxe TourSpring Warm-up Classic Tour
This holiday is new for our 2008 season, and builds on the success of the "classic tour". The holiday
offers all that the classic does, with a few added luxuries and treats to make your stay all that more memorable.
For example one evening we ride out to a wonderful old Mas (traditional farmhouse), where we participate in a dégustation (wine-tasting),
accompanied by local seasonal goodies. We then eat a generous meal and stay the night, before heading back to the villa
the next day.
Another evening we leave together for a sunset ride. Equipped with lights we take in some spectacular scenery made all the more special by
the setting sun.
Picnic at the Pont du Gard. Ride out to the 2000 year old Roman acqueduct where you'll find a picnic awaiting you.
To add to the luxury the food and wine are just a little bit more special on the deluxe tours. Finer wine and freshly squeezed orange juice are just two examples.
here is one suggested ("easy") itinerary: (though all days are optional)
all of these routes have been chosen to avoid steep climbs.
- Saturday - arrive at villa, welcome aperitifs and dinner.
- Sunday - morning ride to Flaux (8 miles), lunch in St Quentin café
afternoon ride to Montaren (10 miles). Group sunset ride.
- Monday - Ride to mas (30 miles) for wine-tasting and overnight stay
- Tuesday - Ride back from the Mas (30 miles)
- Wednesday - Rest day- market day in Uzès
- Thursday - Ride to Pont du Gard (30 miles), picnic lunch provided at the Pont
- Friday - Ride to Pouzilhac and La Capelle (17 miles)
- Saturday - return home
average distance per day: 24 miles
average altitude climbed: 239 m
and here is another one ("moderate"): (again, all days are optional)
these rides are generally more hilly than the above.
- Saturday - arrive at villa, welcome aperitifs and dinner.
- Sunday - Ride to Lussan (24 miles). Group sunset ride
- Monday - Ride to mas (50 miles) for wine-tasting and overnight stay
- Tuesday - Ride back from the Mas (50 miles)
- Wednesday - Rest day - market day in Uzès
- Thursday - Ride to Pont du Gard (30 miles), picnic lunch at the Pont
- Friday - ride to les Concluses (43 miles)
- Saturday - return home
average distance per day: 33 miles
average altitude climbed: 550 m
we also have "hard" and "extremely hard" suggested itineraries for anyone really wishing to
put themselves through their paces.
