Spring Cycling with Colin Lewis

Colin Lewis cycling Spring Warm-up  Classic Tour   Deluxe Tour

book NOW for special price

Come to the South of France and cycle Mont Ventoux and surroundings with Colin Lewis, one of Britains most experienced cycling coaches. With 45 years of cycling experience, his professional victories include two British Professional Road Championships and twice Tour de France rider and finisher. Competed in the Olympic Games and six World Road Championships.

Training schedule designed to get the most from the local area, building up to a cycle to the foot of Mt Ventoux, and ascent via Bedoin. Stay overnight in Malaucène and then cycle back to the villa the following day. There will also be the opportunity to ride through the Gorges de l'Ardeche.

Last year, on 20th July 2009, the Etape du Tour followed the route of Stage 20 and tackled the epic Mt Ventoux. What better way to train for any sportive than to come here, and train with Colin Lewis himself.

"I discovered the Provencal countryside some time ago, now I'm a regular visitor thanks to the wonderful climate, breath-taking scenery, and above all, the passion the French people have for cycling and food. This area is a must, visit once like me and become entranced"
Colin Lewis 2008

There is a set itinerary of recommended routes, and these rides will be led each day in two separate groups, described below, according to the ability of the riders. One group will be led by Colin Lewis, the second group will be led by Doug. There is always the option of extra rides or self-led alternatives if you prefer. (over 2000kms of routes to choose from) The rides have also been designed to meet up at lunchtimes, so that riders wanting to switch groups mid-day can do so.

"Rocketman" group
this group is made up of the fittest cyclists, who are in the habit of cyling at a reasonable pace, without breaks, for significant distances. Distances 70-140kms, average speeds 21-28kmh (13-17mph)

"hang on, man" group
this group are still fit, but combine a desire to cover significant distances at reasonable pace, whilst enjoying the countryside. They will still be capable of cycling consistently on rolling countryside, but won't be averse to the odd coffee stop!
Distances 60-100kms, average speeds 18-23kmh (11-14mph)

We will take upto 25 riders on each of the 2 weeks that Colin is here, with some riders staying at our villa, and the others staying in another villa or 3 star accommodation in the village (about 1km away). Evening meals will be served in the villa so that all are under one roof.
